Ugly Card and a Giveaway!!

Hi Everyone!!
Happy St. Patty's Day to ya!

Have you ever had a card (or other project) so well thought out in your head- that you just knew- that as soon as you could get it out on paper, it would be absolute perfection?
Have you ever had that same fool proof project- that was so carefully planned out- turn out to be total crap?
Yeah, me too.  :0)
At first glance this isn't so bad.  But-- When you actually look at it, you may realize that the Green "Beer" is really an Ice Cream Sundae (from the Thanks a Latte Cart) with the mug handle and the straw cut off.  I couldn't fool my 10 year old, so I knew I couldn't fool anyone else.
What was I thinking!!  LOL!

I had no intention of ever posting this ugliness, until a friend mentioned that she recently made something that turned out really ugly and her husband told her that she should post it so people realize that everyone makes ugly things sometimes.
*clears throat*
S.H.  I have not seen any ugly projects posted on your blog lately!!
 *wink*

So Everyone--
Here's your chance to share the ugliness that we've all experienced.  I'd love for you to tell about an ugly project.  Maybe it's one you never planned to show the world.  It could be one that only you think is hideous.  Or maybe it's a project that you thought was fabulous until your 10 year old told you it would look better at the bottom of the toilet.
You choose.

I'll pick one person to win some extra goodies that I have in my craft room (then you can make something beautiful!).  Ha!

If you've posted an ugly, put a link to it in the comments below.  (I tried to do the "linky button thing", but it didn't work right so I had to take it down.)

  1. LOL! As a non-beer drinker.. I thought it was green beer! I think we are way to hard on ourselves! But I posted a project that I can't stand too look at! I don't even know why I posted it! The layers were off, the colors were off! My stamp was crooked! The only thing that I can say about this is I look at it now and say I'm glad my crafting style has changed!

  3. bwhaha...crack me up...that 10 y/o of yours is quite the little miss "spit fire" huh? I think at one point in time, we all create something that does not "fit the bill" of what we had originally planned out. I for one know there have been many, many times that this has happened to me. But we grow from it and learn.

I saw the title of your post and thought to myself, UGLY? HUH?...that card looks great. I recall being served beer in a mug just like that a few times. It is a great St. Patrick's Day card!!!

But, to join in the fun...here is one I was less than thrilled to post and am not quite sure why on Earth I would even enter it in a blog hop challenge ...LMBO:

  7. Julie,This is hilarious...at least your 10 yr old is honest. Not sure if I want to go there...lol. Like many, I make a bad card all the time. That's why when it's said "I made a quick and simple card" and they turn out so good and mine don't...I just want to scream. I am learning how to go simple...lol. It takes sooo looonnnnggg to design something than to make it. Oh well, I will dig out one of my many cards and post.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. Oh my! About 90% of my creations I find ugly, but others say they' re ok. On the other had usually those 10% I do like - others find not very nice... Go figure...

  10. Lol, when I first started cardmaking & scrapbooking, every I made was scary! But now when I look back at my creations, I see how I have progressed to where I am now & I know my style will change again throughout time. I still make some ugly cards especially when I'm stressed and in a hurry to make a quick card. I think your card looks like a McDonald's Shamrock shake, cute!

  14. Wow what a post. When I started to scrapbook and make cards they were ugly.
So here is the card I thought was really bad. After I was done with this card. I thought wow this didn’t turn out so great.

I don’t see ugly in this card. It’s a really good card. I love the colors and it reminds me of the shamrock shake at McDonalds. Not Beer LOL & TFS! Thanks so much for the chance to win!
